LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS (October 10, 2011)  . . . Rep. Larry Taylor (R – Friendswood) was presented with the “Taxpayer Advocate Award” by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, a statewide grassroots organization working to restore sound fiscal stewardship within all levels of government.

Andrew Kerr, Executive Director of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, presented the award to Rep. Taylor at the monthly meeting of the Clear Creek Republican Women’s Club in League City, Texas on Friday, October 7, 2011.  Kerr said, “Representative Larry Taylor has been a leader in protecting Texas’ taxpayers and demanding responsible fiscal policies.  We are proud to present him this award.”

In accepting the group’s award, Rep. Taylor said, “I share many of the same goals of Texans For Fiscal Responsibility.  I’m for limited, efficient state government that is responsive to Texas citizens.  I have never forgotten that the tax dollars that run state government do not belong to the state, but to the people who contribute their hard-earned tax dollars.  I’ve considered myself a ‘Taxpayer Advocate’ in all my public service efforts.”

Last month, Rep. Taylor announced his intention to run for the Texas Senate in District 11.  The seat is currently held by Sen. Mike Jackson (R-La Porte) who has announced plans to run for a newly created Congressional district.  Senate District 11 is comprised of parts of Brazoria, Galveston and Harris counties.

Taylor is currently serving his 5th term in the Texas House of Representatives and his 2nd term as Chairman of the House Republican Caucus.  Taylor is the Chairman of the House Elections Committee a member of the House Insurance Committee, Co-Chairman of the Joint Windstorm Insurance Legislative Oversight Board, and member of the Texas Energy Council.  Taylor is the owner of Truman Taylor Insurance, a family owned business operating in southeast Texas for almost 50 years.  Taylor was raised in Friendswood, Texas.  He and his wife, Kerri, are the proud parents of 3 children.
