Republican Caucus Chairman Garners Widespread Support from Local Elected Officials in Race for Texas Senate

FRIENDSWOOD, TEXAS (September 22, 2011) . . . Today, State Representative Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood) announced the endorsement of 15 local mayors across southeast Texas in his campaign for Texas Senate – District 11, which is comprised of parts of Brazoria, Galveston and Harris counties.

Endorsing Taylor’s campaign are Seabrook Mayor Glenn Royal, La Porte Mayor Louis Rigby, Pasadena Mayor Johnny Isbell, Deer Park Mayor Wayne Riddle, Pearland Mayor Tom Reid, Friendswood Mayor David Smith, Santa Fe Mayor Ralph Stenzel, Hitchcock Mayor Anthony Matranga, Clear Lake Shores Mayor Vern Johnson, El Lago Mayor Brad Emel, Webster Mayor Floyd Myers, League City Mayor Tim Paulissen, Dickinson Mayor Julie Masters, Tiki Island Mayor Ted Kennedy and Jamaica Beach Mayor Victor Pierson.  Taylor had previously announced the endorsement of his Republican colleagues in SD 11:  Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton), Rep. Ken Legler (R-Pasadena), Rep. Randy Weber (R–Pearland), Rep. Wayne Smith (R-Baytown) and Rep. John Davis (R-Clear Lake).

League City Mayor Tim Paulissen said, “Rep. Taylor is a principled, conservative public servant and we will be fortunate to have him as our State Senator.  He is an experienced leader who understands the key issues facing southeast Texas and will be effective from Day 1 in the Texas Senate.”  Pearland Mayor Tom Reid said, “Larry Taylor knows that government is not the solution to all problems.  He understands that less government is better government and is committed to the principles of free enterprise and individual liberty and serves his constituents very effectively.”

Taylor is currently serving his 5th term in the Texas House of Representatives and his 2nd term as Chairman of the House Republican Caucus.  Taylor is the Chairman of the House Elections Committee a member of the House Insurance Committee, Co-Chairman of the Joint Windstorm Insurance Legislative Oversight Board, and member of the Texas Energy Council.  Taylor is the owner of Truman Taylor Insurance, a family owned business operating in southeast Texas for almost 50 years.  Taylor was raised in Friendswood, Texas.  He and his wife, Kerri, are the proud parents of 3 children.
